Inheriting property in Greece

Issues involving Greek law can come up for Greek Americans in a variety of situations. This includes when they have discovered that a deceased loved one has left them property, such as real estate or a bank account, in Greece.

Now, Greek laws regarding the probate process are not the only Greek laws that can end up mattering quite a bit for a person when inheriting property in Greece. Other laws that could be relevant include Greek laws on taxes, titles, property and real estate.

So, there can be all manner of unique legal matters to address in relation to inheriting Greek property. How these matters are addressed can be the difference between the inheritance process going smoothly or the process being a source of a great deal of headaches and stress.

In light of this, there are many concerns and questions a Greek American may have upon finding out that they were left an inheritance in Greece. This includes questions regarding how they should proceed. Given the complexity Greek inheritance matters can have, seeking out legal guidance in relation to such questions and concerns can be very important for a Greek American. Such guidance could help with many things, including avoiding potential pitfalls or missteps.

Our firm is experienced in a wide range of U.S-Greek legal issues, including those regarding inheritances. We understand the unique considerations that can be present in connection to inheriting property in Greece and can assist Greek Americans with inheritance issues related to Greek property.
